WE ARE THE QUEENS OF THE QUEEN'S CUP
In this fan club, we trust our players, even before qualifying for the Queen’s Cup final (by the way, I suggest changing the name of the competition because Letizia is not there nor is she expected to be, her contempt is absolute).
The first thing I did when entering the stadium was to hang our flag. Derbies raise many passions, and I saw that in the stands. The audience was mixed and committed, and when the game started, it was already drizzling.
The first white goal was a gift that reminded me of other famous robberies by these people, and it brought out the already classic “this is how, this is how Real Madrid wins” from our throats. The second goal made their fans very excited, and insults of “losers” began in the stands. Since that is not racism, nothing happens. Luckily, football is sometimes fair and took care yesterday of shutting mouths.
Before half-time, we had to take out our umbrellas, but we never imagined the deluge that was prepared afterward, which brought memories of another epic stormy derby night at the Calderón. The rain hurt, there were thunder and lightning, we got soaked to the bone, but if the girls showed courage and heart, we couldn’t be less. The rain prevented us from seeing, and we didn’t know if our words of encouragement were heard. Much of the audience had already left (more white than red and whites, they are much more affected by rain, and the 2-0 made them think that the winner was already clear, and they could leave the stadium because their job was done), but we know that our players are the girls who never stop believing, we are Atleti, and we managed to reverse a 2-0 deficit with two goals in the 88th and 95th minutes that forced extra time.
The white audience was missing, the heels of their players were not enough to even walk down a runway, and Atleti believed. With shouts of “we can do it, we can do it,” the stands came alive, encouraging ours, carrying a team that gave everything.
And then came the penalties…and we won.
We were better from the penalty spot, and we were better from the stands. We are Atlético de Madrid, the team that never stops believing. Red and white DNA.
Congratulations, colchoneras!
