ATLETI EN FEMENINO III

ATLETI EN FEMENINO III

Since its first edition in 2023, I have always attended Atleti en Femenino as a spectator. I was greatly surprised when, a few weeks ago, I received an invitation to participate in this year’s event as a guest at a discussion panel. Of course, I didn’t hesitate for a minute and immediately planned everything to ensure I wouldn’t miss the occasion.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 18, I went to the Metropolitano, whose auditorium hosted the third edition of the Atleti en Femenino event. Everything was scheduled to start at 7:03 PM, but we participants were asked to arrive at 6:00 PM to finalize the details. Some of the most prominent figures in the Atlético community related to women’s football gathered at this event, and I was delighted to see Amanda Sampedro behind the scenes with her parents, with whom I chatted for quite a while.

The event was hosted by journalist María José Navarro.

Throughout the evening, two roundtables took place. Women representing Atlético fan clubs, as an example of supporter culture, participated in a roundtable titled ‘Women in the Stands’, moderated by the always kind and professional journalist Patricia Cazón. The panel included the president of the San Sebastián de los Reyes Atlético fan club, Isabel Esteban; the vice president of the Rojiblancas Atlético fan club, Eva Escudero; the treasurer of the Atlético de Madrid Femenino Las Colchoneras fan club, Belén Martínez; and myself, as president of the Atlético fan club in Germany. Through our testimonies, the audience got a glimpse of how the role and presence of women in the stands have evolved over the years.

Our dear Juliana once again received a special mention as “the rojiblanca who is always there because she knows well what hard times are and understands that those are the moments when you need to show up.” I promised to be with her on April 2 for the Copa del Rey second leg against Barcelona (4-4), and we’ll both be there, giving it our all as we always do.

The second panel featured Jero García, Spanish boxing champion, writer, and educator, and Miriam Gutiérrez, world boxing champion — “differently equal” — giving us a lesson in perseverance and courage.

Paloma del Río, who retired in 2024 and is a true icon, received the Rubén Caravaca Award at Atleti en Femenino 2025, just as Amanda, the great captain, received the Almudena Grandes Award, which recognizes the work and impact of a woman who has left her mark on the red-and-white team.

As the president of an Atlético fan club, but above all as a woman, I feel incredibly proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful event. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the Peña Atlética Las Rojiblancas and Los 50 for making such an event possible and for including me, recognizing the work I do with the fan clubs, and giving me a tremendous boost to keep going.
