PEÑAS DAY 2026: CIDER, FABES AND RED-AND-WHITE PRIDE ❤️🤍

The Peña Atlética de Alemania was once again present at Peñas Day, just as we have been every year since becoming an official supporters’ club. Because kilometres are no excuse when it comes to Atleti, and because, even though we live scattered across Germany, there are occasions that are always worth coming back for.
This year, we were also celebrating the launch of an initiative that we think is a brilliant idea: dedicating each edition of Peñas Day to a different province or region, highlighting the culture and traditions of the people who keep the red-and-white passion alive throughout Spain. And when the chosen destination is Asturias, with its music, its food and its very own way of enjoying life, well, you can imagine how we could possibly have stayed away!
The day began in the auditorium at the Metropolitano with the meeting of the supporters’ clubs. Afterwards, the celebrations continued with an invitation to one of the terraces, offering wonderful views of the city and featuring a fantastic bagpipe band that provided the perfect soundtrack to a gathering full of Asturian flavour and red-and-white spirit. Hearing the Atleti anthem played on bagpipes is one of those things that gives you goosebumps, makes your heart skip a beat and reminds you why all this is so worthwhile. It brings tears to our eyes even before the match has begun – and that’s without us having looked at the scoreboard yet!
There was cider aplenty, an unmistakably Asturian and red-and-white atmosphere, and some absolutely delicious fabes, both in generous portions and in quality. Because coming along to support Atleti is one thing, but going home hungry is quite another. The supporters’ clubs had a wonderful time and the atmosphere was fantastic, the kind that proves that, even when kilometres and borders separate us, we all speak the same language when it comes to Atleti. Well, except when someone tries pouring cider the traditional Asturian way for the first time – then everyone does their best and hopes for the best!
For our supporters’ club, these gatherings also have a special meaning. From Germany, we have spent years working to ensure that the Atlético spirit knows no borders and, over time, we have earned the affection and recognition of both the club and our fellow supporters’ clubs. We are proud to be known, appreciated and regarded as a point of reference within the international supporters’ club community. That is not something achieved overnight, and it takes more than simply putting on a scarf and posing for a photo: behind it all there is hard work, commitment, kilometres travelled and a genuine desire to keep alive the red-and-white family that brings us together. That is why sharing a day like this with so many people who feel the same passion is also a way of celebrating everything we have built together.
And then came the football, which always reserves the right to spoil our digestion. It was a match that had us suffering, gritting our teeth and checking the clock far more often than is good for our health. But the three points stayed at home, and that was what mattered. After all, we are Atleti fans: if we can win comfortably, we would rather add a little drama, just in case we get too used to having an easy life.
We head home with happy stomachs, having thoroughly enjoyed the cider, the anthem still ringing in our ears and all three points safely in our pocket. Thank you to the club for the organisation and for a day that once again shows that supporters’ clubs are an essential part of Atleti’s soul.
¡Aúpa Atleti, puxa Asturias, and long live this red-and-white family that knows no borders! ❤️🤍
